It’s important to note that the specific rules, eligibility criteria, and industry coverage can vary across different states and territories in Australia. Therefore, it is advisable to consult the relevant legislation and authority in your specific jurisdiction for accurate and up-to-date information regarding portable long-service leave.

As at June 2023, only Victoria, Queensland and the ACT have provisions for community services which includes workers in the NDIS sector.

  • Workers are drawn to employers who exhibit care for staff well-being and their financial future.
  • Being registered with an Authority is seen by workers as an act of good will.
  • Registered employers develop a reputation among casual and contract workers as an employer of choice.
  • The cost of losing staff is an issue for all employers, considering the amount of time and money invested in training.
