Small business fees and charges rebate
If you’re a sole trader, the owner of a small business or a not-for-profit organisation in NSW, you may be eligible for a small business fees and charges rebate of $3,000.
This rebate helps businesses recover from the impacts of COVID-19 and encourages growth by reducing the cost of running a business. Eligible businesses or not-for-profits only need to apply for the rebate once, but can submit multiple claims until the full value of $3,000 is reached.
Funds can be used to offset the costs of eligible NSW and local government fees and charges due and paid from 1 March 2021. These include, but are not limited to:
- Vehicle Registration Fee – Business use fee
- Transport NSW Road Tolls (for business use only)
- Rapid Antigen Tests Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) (for business use only)
Employing businesses can now claim 50% of the cost of COVID-19 rapid antigen tests (RATs) up to the full rebate value of $3,000 to help them assist their workers to test when required.
The rebate cannot be used for fines or penalties, fees and charges that have the key purpose of discouraging behaviors or inducing behaviour changes, Commonwealth government charges, rent on government premises, or taxes. See the guidelines for more information.

$1000 SafeWork small business rebate
This $1000 rebate helps NSW small business owners purchase safety items that improve work health and safety.
You must attend an eligible SafeWork NSW event before you apply.

You may include more than one item with your claim, for example, two ladders and one trolley.
If the total purchase is under $1000 (ex GST), we’ll reimburse you that amount. If the total price is over $1000 (ex GST), we’ll reimburse the first $1000.

Small Business Northern Flood Grant Program NSW
This program provides funding to small businesses and not-for-profits impacted by storms and floods in February and March 2022 in northern NSW.
What are the eligibility criteria?
To be eligible, you must be a small business owner or a not-for profit organisation physically located and operating in an eligible Northern Rivers LGA- external site and:
- have an active Australian business number (ABN), registered on or before 1 January 2021
- have derived at least $75,000 in turnover in the financial year ended 30 June 2021 or 30 June 2020
- had an aggregated annual turnover of between $75,000 and $10 million for the financial year ended 30 June 2021 or 30 June 2020
- experienced a decline in turnover of 40% or more due to the impacts of flooding during the entire month of March 2022 compared to the entire month of March 2021 or March 2020
- intend to continue operating or re-establish operations within the highly impacted Northern Rivers LGAs.

- have commenced their training on or after 1 January 2020
- be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen, living or working in NSW
- be undertaking a course funded under the Smart and Skilled program.

What are the eligibility criteria?
To be eligible, you must:
- be aged 18 years or over
- identify as female
- be establishing or own a business:
- with a valid Australian business number (ABN)
- registered or trading in NSW
- with 0 to 199 employees
- live or work in NSW
- be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen.

Business Basics grants program
The Business Basics grants program provides support to businesses to increase core skills and adopt best practice.
This support includes funded activities in 5 priorities:
- Training and coaching
- Website build or upgrades
- Professional business advice
- Strategic marketing services
- Business continuity and succession.
The program is administered by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT).
SEQ and regional Queensland funding are available
For this round, there are 2 funding streams based on what Local Government Area (LGA) eligible businesses are headquartered. These LGAs are grouped into either South East Queensland or regional Queensland.
You may be eligible for a single up-front fixed grant payment of $5,000 (excluding GST).

Wheelchair Accessible Taxi Grant Scheme
The Wheelchair Accessible Taxi Grant Scheme provides assistance of up to $45,000, with a 50 per cent co-contribution from applicants to offset the cost of purchasing and modifying a new wheelchair accessible taxi.
This round is open from 1 July 2021 and closes 30 June 2022 or until funding is fully allocated. Subsequent funding rounds will run until 30 June 2023.

Business Growth Program
Who can apply
You can apply if you are a small business with:
- an annual turnover of more than $75,000 and less than $10 million
- a Territory enterprise
- a valid Australian business number
- at least one full-time and no more than 20 full-time employees.
What you can get
You can apply for up to $10,000 based on a 25/75 co-contribution. The funding can be used for professional services in any of the following grant categories:
- strategy
- marketing
- operations
- financials
- people and culture.
Mentoring and coaching is also available after your business has completed one of the above grant categories.

Work Stay Play 2.0 Program
This program will open at 9:00AM on Monday 21 March 2022.
The Work Stay Play 2.0 Program is an initiative of the Northern Territory Government to attract critical workers to relocate to the Northern Territory.
What you can get
Eligible businesses can apply for a $1,000 one-off payment for each new eligible worker. The cap on the total amount you can claim is $20,000.

An Eligible Employer is a business that:
- is a legal entity, with or without a registered business name
- holds a valid Australian business number
- has an annual turnover between $75,000 and $10 million

Northern Territory businesses and not-for-profit or community organisations.
Overview
Funding can be used to:
- buy and install a solar photovoltaic (PV) with an eligible battery and inverter
- buy and install an eligible battery and inverter only, if you already have solar PV installed.
Applicants cannot use the funding to buy and install solar PV panels and inverters where they are not being installed simultaneously with a battery.
What are the eligibility criteria?
Eligible applicants include:
- a registered owner of a residential property in the Northern Territory
- a registered Northern Territory business
- a not-for-profit or community organisation operating in the Northern Territory in either owned or leased premises.

Tasmanian Employer Bonus Fund
The Tasmanian Employer Bonus Fund provides funding to businesses to help them with the costs of taking on new employees.

Overview
Funding over 6 months is available to businesses that take on an eligible job-seeker.
Bonuses will be paid according to the following schedule:
- a casual/part-time position of 15 hours per week averaged over 3 months equates to a first instalment of $1500, and after 6 months (15 hours per week averaged over 6 months), a final instalment of $1500
- a full-time position at 3 months equates to a first instalment of $3000, and at the 6-month period a final instalment of $3500
- additionally, if a casual/part-time position turns into a full-time position in the 3 to 5-month period then the applicant is eligible for $3500 as a final instalment (at the 6-month point) for that employee.
What are the eligibility criteria?
To be eligible, an employer must:
- be the direct employer of the employee (an agent cannot act on behalf of an employer)
- hold current workers compensation insurance from the time that the employee was employed
- have an Australian business number (ABN), and Australian company number (ACN) if applicable
- be operating in Tasmania
- comply with all employer responsibilities and workplace laws.

JobMaker Hiring Credit
Overview
If you hire new employees, you may be eligible to receive payments under the JobMaker Hiring Credit scheme.
If you and your new employees are eligible, you can register and then claim JobMaker Hiring Credit payments for 12 months for each new job filled.
You may be able to get payments of:
- up to $200 a week – for each eligible employee aged 16 to 29 years old
- up to $100 a week – for each eligible employee aged 30 to 35 years old.
What are the eligibility criteria?

Eligible business employers must:
- register for the JobMaker Hiring Credit scheme
- operate a business in Australia
- hold an Australian business number (ABN)
- be registered for pay as you go (PAYG) withholding
- have not claimed JobKeeper payments for a fortnight that started during the JobMaker period
- be up-to-date with income tax and GST returns for the 2 years up to the end of the JobMaker period you’re claiming for
- satisfy payroll increase and the headcount increase conditions
- satisfy reporting requirements
- not belong to an ineligible employer category.
