Music therapy has been a funded therapeutic support since the very start of the NDIS. RMTs have specialist expertise in the therapeutic use of music to impact the brain, mind and the body.
Music therapy is an engaging, evidence-based allied health therapy that has proven impacts on functional outcomes.
Music therapy impacts thinking, behaviour, skills and function and improves access to activities and community participation.
In the NDIS, music therapy is an approved allied health therapeutic support. Music therapy is included under Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living and listed as a Therapeutic Support in the NDIS Practice Standards Verification Module.
For NDIS participants to use their funding for music therapy, it must be provided by an active registered music therapist who is a member of the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA)
