Senior Occupational Therapist – NDIS Assessment Team

The Senior Occupational Therapist- NDIS is responsible for providing specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention, assistive technology (AT) prescription & NDIS recommendations, and time limited case management to complex patients who are eligible to receive National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) services.

They will form part of a Dedicated NDIS Assessment Team who will work closely with the existing Acute Disability Liaison staff and CALHN Allied Health to provide specialist AH services to complex NDIS patients stranded within the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH). The NDIS team will follow the patient through their health journey to provide continuity, optimum patient care, reduce duplication and reduce unnecessary internal delays where possible. Employees classified at this level are experts within their area and stream of practice and have a significant degree of autonomy and decision making.

The position requires extensive liaison and collaboration with health, social and other relevant services and the development of policy and practice to optimise outcomes for the complex client group. This is inclusive of building effective working relationships relevant Non-Government Organisations, the National Disability Insurance Agency and the Department for Health and Wellbeing as required to monitor and escalate client issues and discharge delays and reporting data and outcomes back to the AH Directorate.

The Senior Occupational Therapist – NDIS provides clinical leadership within the organisation to assist in the clinical management (in consultation with other relevant healthcare professionals), education, co-ordination and support for NDIS patients as well as staff and agencies.

As a clinical leader, mentor and clinical supervisor the Senior Occupational Therapist – NDIS is required to provide clinical support and profession-specific supervision to less experienced Occupational Therapists and Allied Health Assistants, and plays a leadership role in the clinical education of staff and professional students within CALHN.

Appropriate degree or equivalent required which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (OTBA).
